No. 27, Mercer Street
Listed at grade II, No, 27, is a late-17th-century houses, re-fronted and the ‘shopfront’ added in the early-19th century. Restored as an integral part of Terry Farrell and Partners’ Comyn Ching Triangle development. It comprises a four-storey, two-bay, London Stock brick faced elevation with two, early-18th century 6-over-6 sash windows at first and second floor levels and two, late -18th century, 6-over-6 subdivided sashes at second floor level above a restored, dark blue painted, flush-beaded 'shopfront' containing two single 2-over-4 subdivided sash-windows. The restoration has maintained the dark tones of the brickwork, and the joinery is appropriately coloured. It has a modern but appropriate numbered 'label' attached to its fascia.
The property is of special architectural and historic interest and townscape value, contributing to the character, appearance and significance of the Seven Dials Conservation Area.
It is important that the entire group of four historic buildings, comprising nos. 19, 21, 25 and 27, is maintained to the same high standards in the future.
