Nos. 39-41, Shelton Street
Nos. 39-41, Neal Street, marking the east corner of the junction of Shelton Street and Nottingham Court, comprises a three-storey, late-19th century warehouse building. The original, London Stock brick façade survives at first and second floor levels. Regrettably, the brickwork at ground floor level has been overpainted in white.
There are single, segmentally-arched window openings with subdivided, timber casement windows at first and second floor levels to each side of a deep-set, full-height recess with black, bull-nose brick jambs (together with folding cranes at first and second floor levels and a projecting hoist beam at high level) with inward-opening, glazed, timber doors and drop-down flaps at first and second floor levels.
There is one wide, central fully glazed shopfront opening and one, narrower, fully glazed shopfront opening to the left hand side, and one, narrower, door opening to the right hand side at ground floor level.
There is externally illuminated lettering above the central door opening and one externally illuminated hanging-sign.
The building is of architectural and historic interest and townscape value contributing positively to the character, appearance and significance of the Seven Dials Conservation Area.
The building would be improved by the careful removal the overpainting of the brickwork at ground floor level.
