Nos. 11-13, Shelton Street
Listed at grade II, these late-18th century houses preserve the scale and plot sizes of the original, 17th century houses, being of three storeys with mansard roofs. They are faced in painted stucco and have good, sensitively repaired, late-Georgian, timber shopfronts with pilasters carrying an entablature with projecting cornices.
The first floor window opening of no. 11 is set within a plain architrave incorporating a simple pediment, whilst the architraved window openings at first and second floor levels on no, 13 are contained below simple, bracketed canopies. Unusually, the first and second floor windows of nos. 11 and 13 comprise 8-over-8, subdivided sashes. The fascia of nos. 11-13 carries externally illuminated lettering in black.
These two properties, together with no. 15, are of particular, special architectural and historic interest and townscape value contributing to the character appearance and significance of the Covent Garden Conservation Area.
