No. 27, Neal Street
A well-preserved, four-storey London Stock brick faced, grade II listed, early-19th century frontage with original, 6-over-6, subdivided sash-windows in each of the two windows at each of the upper floor levels. The early-19th century fascia, cornice and pilasters of the shopfront have been well restored, but the shopfront is spoilt by the window being reduced to low level and being painted in white.
A building of special architectural and historic interest and of townscape value, contributing positively to the character, appearance and significance of the Seen Dials Conservation Area.
The glazed door to the shopfront should be replaced with the correct, early-19th century pattern. A hanging sign might be restored to the existing projecting bracket and the applied lettering on the fascia replaced with traditional sign-writing.
