Nos. 33-35, Endell Street
An austere four-storey, late-19th/early-20th century building faced in Bath Stone with splayed casement bay windows at first, second and third floor levels set within wide recesses behind the line of the façade. A simpler storey has been added at fourth floor level. It is nicely if plainly detailed and well proportioned, with wide pilasters, moulded string courses and a good cornice at fourth floor level. The modern two-part shopfront has excessively deep fascias and is painted white. There is a slim, internally-illuminated double-sided projecting sign.
The building is of modest townscape value projecting to the character, appearance and significance of the Seven Dials Conservation Area.
The shopfront could be improved if the fascias were reduced in depth to match the fascia above the residential entrance and if the whole of the ground floor were to be painted uniformly in an appropriate dark colour. A well-proportioned fascia would provide the space for a properly lettered painted sign.
