No. 35, Neal Street
A well restored, grade II listed, surviving house of the original 1694 development by Thomas Neale, faced in warm red brick. Probably of three storeys originally, with a later added storey at third floor level and slated mansard attic storey above. There is a projecting brick band above first floor window openings. 6-over-6, subdivided sash windows in each of the three window openings at first, second and third floor levels. The replica 18th-century shopfront, presently painted light blue, is well designed and detailed and was finely executed in quality joinery under the direction of the GLC Historic Buildings Division in the 1980s. Whilst there is a projecting bracket at first floor level, there is no hanging sign.
A building of special architectural and historic interest with a shopfront of particular interest and of townscape value, contributing positively to the character, appearance and significance of the Seven Dials Conservation Area.
