No. 55, Neal Street
A very distinguished, grade II listed, narrow-frontage former warehouse built in the late 19th. A richly modelled, gabled, four-storey, brick façade, three bays in width, faced in warm red brick of Hanseatic character. 12-over-12, white-painted sash windows in the outer bays at first and second floor levels, 6-over-6 white-painted sash-windows in the outer bays at third floor level; pairs of inward-opening, subdivided, half-glazed doors in the central bays at each upper floor level with drop-down flaps secured with chains; all contained within segmental- arched openings. Three-segmental-arched openings at ground floor level containing painted timber-framed shop windows in the outer bays and a painted timber-framed doors in the central bay. A hanging sign projects from above the right-hand window. The building is a highlight of the street.
A building of outstanding special architectural and historic interest and townscape value, contributing positively and substantially to the character, appearance and significance of the Seven Dials Conservation Area.
