No. 57, Shelton Street
The London Stock brick-faced front elevation of this three-storey plus mansard property has been rebuilt further, it is assumed, to War-time bomb damage. The elevation is a reasonable if not perfect reinstatement of what was lost, including 6-over-6 subdivided sash-widows set in flat-brick-arched openings.
The shopfront is of entirely bland, modern design, with externally-illuminated lettering carried along the ‘fascia’.
A building that neither contributes to nor detracts from the character, appearance or significance of the Seven Dials Conservation Area.
The property would benefit from the replacement of the existing, modern shopfront with a new shopfront to traditional design and detail – painted in an appropriate colour with a sign-written fascia.
