No. 71, Endell Street
A three-storey, mid-to-late-19th-century, commercial property faced in London Stock brick with richly modelled, classically detailed stone dressings (unpainted at first and second floor levels and painted at ground floor level) and given further distinction by a large pedimented stone dormer at third floor level projecting from a slated mansard roof slope. The stone frieze below the principal cornice at high level is finely carved with garlands of flowers. The deep set window joinery at all floor levels is of the highest order. Located at the right hand side of the ground floor storey is a wide, elliptically-arched gateway leading to the yard behind with metal gates, and to the left hand side a narrower, semi-circular-arched doorway providing access to the upper floors. The elevation has been well restored, the stonework cleaned, and the window and door joinery is appropriately painted dark green.
An unlisted property of particular architectural interest and townscape value contributing positively to the character, appearance and significance of the Seven Dials Conservation Area.
The present condition of the property should be maintained. Consideration should be given to the possible listing of the property.
